Did this guy just climb out from under a rock???
Why does he not see the corruption, human insensitivity, lack of rule of law, unconstitutional behaviour, lack of democracy of the state and local governments??
Guess he is ok with his Euro salary, why can I not make my rent contracts in Euro or negotiate my work contract in Euro?? I am told Euro is not legal tender here in Estonia, go figure!!
This article just shows that thia man does not talk to the people or understand that not everyone in Estonia earns his salary.

idiot!!! answer
~Reality [01.01.2010, 13:11]
As a remark, his salary will be fixed in euros from 2011 when Estonia supposedly is in eurozone. Until then, his salary is fixed in kroons.

I think his New Year speech was one of the "better" one.

A bit gothic with all this "as we gaze into the sky now darkened by night" stuff, but it fits to Nordic culture and I have nothing against it. answer

You must have had a terrible year to react in such a twisted and hurtful manner.

I believe that neither your venom nor your opinions are warranted, since they simply run counter to established fact.

As for what you write in the guise of fact, do try to think just a little before spreading such falsehoods. Perhaps, you should stand in front of your mirror and repeat “Stupid, stupid, stupid” till you finally get it. If it matters any, it is you that is the idiot. answer
~In Touch [02.01.2010, 01:10]
If you are 'in touch' then read §13 of the Estonian constitution (and the preamble and pretty much all that relate to citizens rights), relate §154 and then see how many property reform issues have been dragging through the courts for over 15 years and the subsequent attitude of the local council in relation to this law and effective court decisions, the failure of the government to provide an effective remedy, the immunity of the council to any action, order of court, or law which could force the council to follow law, democracy or the constitution, whilst destroying peoples lives.
The FACT that the government allows this supports and demonstrates my statement, talk to the finance ministry re the unbeleivable, persistant and pointless correspondence from the Tallin City Mayor over the last year. This correspondence demonstrates govenment (local) procrastination and deliberate, motivated and malicious passive corruption which the state government refuses to address and protect it's citizens. The FACT that this is also funded by tax payers money, to promote the political ambition of one person/party, is in FACT a constitutional violation to each and every Estonian citizen be they tax payer, pensioner or reciever of social support.

Get in touch!!!

Why all this negative, idiotic comments?

The truth is that there is a lot of low-intelligent foreigners in Estonia, many just come here for quick money (not easy anymore though) and woman. I am a foreigner myself, I see it every day. And we can read it every day here among all the stupid comments.

The truth is that Estonia really are a good place to be (if you have money). I work everywhere in Eastern-Europe, and Estonia (Tallinn) is by far the best place to be in the whole former eastern block.

Of course I also get irritated over all the stupidity and moron acting among people in Estonia, but this is not an estonian thing, this is an eastern-european thing. And it is far, far worse in other eastern european countries, like Russia (worst ass country in the world), Lithunia, Poland, Albania etc.

Even if I now and then would like to beat up all the monky behaving men in Estonia, I must admit that I enjoy living in this country.
It is fare better than my own country, which they say is the richest and most developed country in the world. In reality my country is a non-liberal Soviet-state.

To all you positive thinking people out there, don't mind all the garbagde you read from some users here. answer
~Mr. Right [02.01.2010, 15:12]
I agree with you 100% also experiencing life in different countries but like living in Estonia more than the rest. And ditto the comment about wanting occasionally to beat up the local monkeys.
~Here, here [02.01.2010, 16:59]
ditto here.

Yeah, some people here really get all worked up and leave no stone unturned in being insulting towards Estonia and Estonians.

Its a decent place to live in, I have had no major complaints so far. 2009 was an amazing year for me, every month brought a new surprise and I capped it by buying a flat at 45 percent discount in December.

So all those foreign grease monkeys who come here for easy money and loose poosey (Christ, I hate that word - its called PUSSY, atleast call it correct if you cant get any yet!!), well, take a chill pill :)

And I kinda liked the President´s speech too. It shows that there is soul searching going on here. If this economic crisis leads to a cutting down of the jingoism in the far right Estonian folks, all the more better it will be for the future of Estonia and all those who like to live here.

Remember - after getting laid, you must repeat the words - Ma armastan sind ja Eestimaa:)) That way the fun keeps on rolling in, time after time, everytime ;) answer

True! If the soul changing leads to an actual change of attitude...

"Remember - after getting laid, you must repeat the words - Ma armastan sind ja Eestimaa:))"

It's quite interesting that some people here complain about "foreign grease monkeys" that are "insulting towards Estonia and Estonians" and at the same time can't hold themself back to write sex(-ist) related comments.

What is wrong with you guys? Been to long in this culture to start to act like the "local monkeys"?

I think it's also quite impolite to discuss about sex in a very vulgar way to some "New Year's Greetings of the President of the Republic" article that has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Why we should await that any Estonian would act differently? Where are the positive examples?

"Its a decent place to live in, I have had no major complaints so far"

You obviously have not the slightest idea what it's like to live in a PROPER EU country, and haven't seen Estonia for very long.
The idea that Estonia is "DECENT" is so damn laughable with its skyhigh unemployment and rocketing fuel prices I have to check if I actually read what you wrote straight!

Are you aware that practically everything in Estonia now costs more than in mega rich, wealthy LUXEMBOURG!
How the heck do you expect people to scratch a living on 1/5 of the Luxembourg salary without resorting to the current massive crime wave in Estonia. answer

I love it when I see Putin's “official commentators” jump into the fray: lies, innuendo, and more lies. And always with a generous dollop of “generalizations”.
First off, I find London far more expensive than Tallinn... but ever since Lavrov's tiff with Milliband, I guess, the UK doesn't count any more.
Fuel prices? Obviously, “esti=NO” hasn't been west of Moscow in years.
Massive crime wave? Well, again I believe he's mixing up Tallinn and Moscow. What a pitiful chap he is.

Its no point arguing with you - your bile has leaked into your system ;)
I wish your family a nice Russian X`mas.
And I must admit that I thoroughly enjoy reading your sentences. If I recollect correctly, you said that you wanted to liquidate your assets in Estonia and get out of here by Spring:)
Well, I wish you all the best for your future ventures. If you have anything meaningful to sell, do drop a line. I will ofcourse pay in cash for the good stuff :)) answer
