Estonian Government to invest billion to Tallinn-Tartu railway

At the Baltic transport ministers meeting in Riga, Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs stated that in the next three years EEK 710 mln will be invested into Tallinn-Tartu railway.

Juhan Parts the Minister of Economic Affairs also said the private investments will be needed as well, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications announced.

Parts sees two problems with that: firstly the bad reputation of public and private sector co-operations in the past; secondly the involvement of private capital needs to be insured in a way that when risks emerge the government involvement will not go off balance.

Private capital can be included into road constructions if Eurostat positions have been taken into consideration- private sector has to take the risks of quality and demand as well as construction risks.

I guess that EU money will pay the project.
And to my opinion, it is not very smart to have private money involved.
It will always give problems in the future.
It is much smarter, to have this project totally private.
Or at least, most money from a private source.
