Baltic Film and Media School could relocate to Latvia
05.08.2008, 09:21Baltic Film and Media School BFM is
considering relocation to Latvia from Tallinn, writes Eesti Päevaleht.
BFM that has applied for EEK 95 mln in EU aid says that if it fails to get
the aid it may have to move to Latvia. The school’s current rent contract runs
out next July and it needs a new studio.
Martin Aadamsoo, head of development of BFM, says that at present BFM has 300
students. He said that the school moved to Tallinn two years ago because of
excellent infrastructure including a school building, a dorm and access to the
ETV studio.
“Latvians are very much interested to host BFM,” confirms Marge Liiske,
managing director of the Estonian Film Foundation, saying that Latvians
attracted BFM to Latvia already two years ago.
If BFM were to move away from Estonia, Estonians would no longer have access
to free movie and film education and would have to pay about EEK 25,000
a semester for tuition.
