"The total budget of the project is approx. 320 million euros, which will be divided between Fingrid and Elering"

Great this one.....Estonia pays almost nothing because as usual they get a 100m freebie from the EU.
Finland AS USUAL pays like normal people do.

When is this completely biased one way street to Estonia going to end?

It's well overdue to stop all subsidies to Estonia from the EU, and subsidising whole countries to the tune of 10% GDP.

They want to stand on their own feet, and be arrogant?

Let them do it but on a level playing field. Reply to the comment answer

Reason why they pump money to Eesti clowns is because they do not want another Greece. Every sane person saw already in 1981 and 1991 how backward the two countries mentioned were.

So....if Estonia is getting its entire investment funding for electricity grid maintenance & renewal from the EU anyway,-

would someone kindly explain to us consumers why electricity prices now have to rise "on the back of competition between electricity providers" when there ARE NONE, and why it was supposed to private for neccessary investment funding "to renew grid infrastructure" when it's clearly not the case.
The entire project taking shape in Ida-Viru looks like one giant pack of lies, and represents all that could ever be wrong with Baltic states energy policy and EU intervention in particular.

The Ida Virumaa project may not be such a bad idea now that the Lithuanians have torpedoed the nuclear plant project. Reply to the comment answer
