zzzzz..... really does this provide any value?

>I have been doing this „internet marketing stuff” since early 1997, since before Google launched.

This is a joke right... so Pre-Google =
Credibility. How sad. Zzzzzzzz.... BBN is making itself more irrelevant. Reply to the comment answer

Is BBN irrelevant? Somehow you still seem to be reading it. :)
And knowledge comes from experience, at least in most of the cases. Isn't it so?

Once a week max after watching the Stephan trainwreck.

Experience is one thing, but accomplishment speaks more. The thing about this is where is the accomplishment? Been in the marketing business myself for a while Marge, and time does not equal ability, tallent, or accomplishment.

I have been to many conferences-presentations-whatever where the speaker talked about their time and experience. If being around before Google and being a guru, why did they not invent google?

Productive experience, and just reading this blog, gives me question for concern. The author appears to be native English, but the word usage is "cool" to the point of "annoying."

I hope I am wrong and there is a significant RoI for this, but at the same time, first impression has a bit to be desired. Reply to the comment answer

One more thing, is this expert any better than the "real estate experts" that are often quoted?

My beef is that expert is thrown around too liberally in this region.

If we listen to the "experts," we would know that Estonia is different economically than the rest of the world, end 2008 + beginning of 2009 was a great time to invest in property, and well, I can come up with more fool-hardy predictions if necessary. Reply to the comment answer

Hello Robin,

as you can see you have to deal here with a hypocritical audience (perhaps you already knew that).

Nevertheless, welcome, good luck to your blog and let's see what you have to say and hopefully people will judge you on this and not already now, when you even haven't started yet.

C'mon Yawn, everyone deserves a chance. Reply to the comment answer

Thank you! That answered my question "wy you think the way you do" very well. Sometimes I have difficulties with understanding, since all I see are characters on the screen.

Thanks again,

Estonians tend to search through the excellent neti.ee directory, they do not need to use search engines.
Few companies have a presentable or useful English version of their site.
One large Estonian lighting company does not feature the word “lamp” anywhere in their English language website. They will only come up in a Google search if one searches for “luminaires Tallinn” - and who but a Frenchman would? Reply to the comment answer

I got started in "Internet Marketing" with online bulletin board systems (i.e. before the Internet), modding the source code of my WWIV board in Pascal, chugging along on my 300 baud modem to advertise my BBS, and doing everything else on DOS (as Windows didn't exist yet).

Does that make me an expert too? Reply to the comment answer

Monte,

yes it makes you an BBS expert, perhaps also an porn expert (at least in bits and bytes, the most traffic that made the BBS were the porn content). Reply to the comment answer

Actually, most of the traffic was in pirated warez (games and apps) back then. Reply to the comment answer

Monte,

Well, most "elite boards" contained both, "warez" and gif porn libraries.

Rusty n Edie's BBS were the largest one, with up to around 15,000 subscribers and 128 lines.

However, BBS was also used for a lot of legal stuff and my eyes get wet again when I remember that time of BBS and newsgroups before the internet came and commercialized the online world.

In so far you can't say you're an online marketing expert, because before the internet almost nothing were commercial what you could access with your 9600 baud modem. Besides commercial support BBS.
