PM Ansip on doctors’ pay: I make only 3,999 euros a month

So what if Ansip earns less than doctors? Ansip is not healing sick people or treating patients. He did not spend years studying biology, chemistry, and medicine like doctors have. I'm happy if doctors earn more salary than a key politician or prime minister. Reply to the comment answer

Funnily enough, he did spend years studying chemistry.

Yes but at least Doctors do something useful for the money they get.

Can't see Ansip preventing someone dying any time soon.
~ansip with a sense of humour [04.10.2012, 20:13]
Same could be said about every single politician out there.

Mr. Ansip. Serving the Estonian people as prime minister is first of all an honour not just another job. Step back if you think you are underpaid. Reply to the comment answer

No wonder Estonia is such a messed up place. And the idiot of course knows how to perform surgery's and do all the other stuff those overpaid "white coats" do. Reply to the comment answer

This is a tricky one. The key part is "if one takes into consideration all income including dividends and wages earned abroad."

It means the major part of salaries of the top earners of Estonian dcotors does not come from the Estonian public health care system, but either through foreign commitments or through dividends as a doctor in the private doctor.

What does that say to us? That Ansip's keen comparison is on one hand irrelevant to the workers that are paid through the public healthcare sector, and on the other hand, that there is something fundamentally wrong with public health care, if they can not compete on wages with the private sector at all.

From personnel perspective it means that public health care should be privatized, but also from the view of patients.

Why?

Because patients pay health insurance tax of 13% of their wages, which means based on average income, more than 100 EUR per month (and that's not all pulled in from taxpayer's pockets, plus fee for visiting medical specialists, hospital in-patient fee, dental costs uncovered, no chief physician without extra charges and other forms of unrefundable surcharges).

For this price, middle-aged people in most European countries with a private healt care option can get a private health care insurance plan with better services attached. Reply to the comment answer

Another way to look at it is that because doctors don't earn enough working for the state health system, they are forced to look at other ways to earn money, like working part time in private practice or abroad.
~ameeriklane [04.10.2012, 21:49]
Euro lifted up the prices. Here is the result.

Knut, and what about the "older-than-middle-aged"? Don't try to trick us with half truth! Elderly easily pay 500 to 1000 Euro per month for health private insurance in other European countries (I guess you referred primarily to GER since in lot of european countries there is no such thing like a 100% private health insurance). ~Old trick [04.10.2012, 20:07]
1000 EUR is unreal. Elderly would only pay lot more in case they join a private health insurance plan at this age, so on a switch it would be a problem for todays elderly, not for future generations.

Here, obviously a second transitional market must be created by the state, for those in actual need.

However, we generally should also move from insurance plans to health care services plans. Insurances are for catastrophic situations and not an adequate tool for general health care services.

Don't forget that he gets lot of perks and all the travels etc are funded by the govt. Not from his pocket and wherever he goes, it is taken care off. Reply to the comment answer

He is part of the old elite that had better education than rest of these clowns. Can you imagine a nurse being the prime minister of Eesti.
~nomenklatura steel [05.10.2012, 22:02]
If a nurse can give Estonia a face and a weight in the European Union, yes I can.
Ansip doen´t play any rule there, neither Estonia. He acts like a servant without backbone, but here he opens his mouth (no Merkel in the near, no Hollandre). It´s a shame.
~scheileke [06.10.2012, 11:03]
I guess you have never seen what the average eesti nurse look like. Even more pale and sickly than the AIDS patients at her clinic.
~ha ha ha [06.10.2012, 11:33]
Look at Merkel: not a beauty queen, but she makes her job definitiv better than Ansip.
~scheileke [06.10.2012, 12:36]
She sure makes life easier for Eesti people and greeks. Can you imagine eesti idiot was bragging here how they only have six percent of debt. When ten percent of your state budget comes from EU funds of course you are not going to have much debt. Not that there is anything proud of being a parasite.
~eesti africa [06.10.2012, 13:10]
You eastern Europeans live from the West, since the beginning of your "indipendence". This is fact. But "Aufbau Ost" is done. Let´s see, what kind of future you have.
~scheileke [06.10.2012, 13:23]
And teutons need Russian gas and oil, but hey look at it this way, USSR and Romania provided most of your energy resources like oil and aluminium during the war. London was bombed with Russian and Romanian petrol on the fuel tank of Stuka.
~zorianna petriv [06.10.2012, 14:57]
I see, that You can only argue in agressive subjectivity, what lacks on substance and competivness. Spread You hate against somebody else (maybe against Yourself? :) )
Don´t watch out, who is guilty about Your personal mistakes, and please, don´t argue everytime with the past. It doesn´t help You forward (hate brings nothing), not me, not Estonia or the EU. Scream against the wall, if You like. I heard, it helps sometimes ;).

This just in, though the source is not confirmed.

Apparently a member of parliament submitted expense reports for the government to reimburse him for lease of a car. The car was a Honda Accord, which happened to be owned by his company.

Now for the funny part:
He doesn't have a driver's license!
