Ida-Virumaa to get two wind parks

Wind park developers have turned their eyes to Ida-Virumaa since settlement is low and there are no wilderness preserves, Põhjarannik reports.

Different developers have planned wind parks of more than 600 MW.

Family Sõnajalg plans two wind parks. One of them is going to be in Siragala with power of 500 MW and the other will be in Purtse and its power will be 40 MW.

25 pct of energy Estonia uses must be renewable, according to UNO Framework Convention on Climate Change. That means that the share of wind parks in energy production will be bigger.

Marek Strandberg, the head of Gree Party said that renewable energy may be the key of enlivening the economy.

And the government is still lazy sleeping about wind energy !!!

Create areas whith ready to use building permitts for wind parks. Offer these areas 1) To domestic Estonian investors 2) To EU investors.

Force Eesti Energy to build the needed electric grid along those coast lines.

Encourage Estonian building & electric companies to take part on building, production and maintanance of the wind generators to be build in these areas. Not a development of own Estonian wind generators - this will fail - just a partipication/ cooperation for example with Danish Vestas or one of the German Windgenerator companies.

Estonia to sell quota
for a billion kroons

Estonian ministry of environmental affairs has approved draft agreement to sell spare emission allowances to Spain for 688 million kroons and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. for an unspecified price, according to a statement on the ministry’s website, reported Bloomberg.

June retail sales
fell 7% in a year

Retail sales volume decreased 7% at constant prices in June year on year. According to Statistics Estonia, retail sales have been declining during the whole year in annual terms: in January retail sales decreased 12%, in February 11%, in March and April 9% and in May 5% compared to the respective months a year ago.

airBaltic may expand its taxi service into Estonia

Value of property deals continues
to fall in Estonia

In the first six months, there were 19,002 real estate transactions in Estonia worth 9.83 billion kroons. A year earlier, the figures were 18,914 and 11 billion kroons.

Exports up 38%, imports 47% in May

In May exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 11.3 billion kroons and were 38% higher than a year earlier. Imports were up 47% to 12.5 billion kroons. Trade deficit stood at 1.2 billion kroons and was four times more than in May 2009.COMMENTS (14)
