The Danish real estate investor Bent Rise Iversen who has had development projects in Latvia has been indicted for tax evasion in Denmark, reports news2biz.com.

From the late nineties and until  2007 Mr Iversen together with fellow Dane Flemming Thomsen was involved in the Baltic Sea Park development in Liepaja, but the project came to nothing.

The prosecution believes that Mr Iversen was eligible for taxation in Denmark during the years 2005-2007 when he has stated that he lived in Latvia.

The tax man wants DKK 10.4m in back taxes plus interest and the prosecution want to add several years in jail and a fine which usually is half of the taxes that should have been paid.

Mr Iversen's lawyer Michael Juul Eriksen says that they intend to call a number of witnesses who can confirm that Mr Iversen lived in Latvia during the period.
