Tallink's ferry stops at sea for technical problems
23.11.2009, 09:55M/S Silja Europa that is operated by Tallink stopped at sea yesterday afternoon after its steering system failed.
The ferry that was making its regular Stockholm-Turku trip is now being tugged into Turku and should arrive there at 16.30 today.
The tugboat arrived at Silja Europa today at 7 am and started tugging it 8.15, said Tallink.
The company has cancelled the Turku departure this evening and Stockholm departure tomorrow morning and will buy back or replace tickets.
The ferry had around 1,373 passengers and 286 crew members on board.
According to the company, the incident posed no danger to the passengers.
