Estonian ferry group Tallink said it will suspend its Helsinki-Rostock service for two months, writes aripaev.ee with reference to Taloussanomat.

The company said that cargo volumes carried on the line had fallen notably. It operates two vessels, Superfast VIII and Superfast VII, on the line. Both vessels will be in maintenance until March.

Pasi Näkki, deputy manager of Tallink Silja, said that passenger schedules for the next year for Germany will be published in December.

In August Tallink said that its passenger number on the line had gone down by a third after the company took the third Superfast ferry off the line.

In cargo shipments, the fall was every sharper, amounting to 60% in the last 18 months.
