Tallinn-Istanbul direct line to open in spring
18.12.2009, 16:08Tallinn will have a direct connection to Istanbul, capital of Turkey, in spring.
This was announced by Ahmet Davutoğlu, Turkish minister of foreign affairs, today after meeting with his Estonian counterpart Urmas Paet.
The Turkish minister said at the meeting that Turkey was very interested in deepening relations with Estonia.
Paet said that Estonian-Turkish relations were good and close. "We are also looking forward to several joint culture projects in the framework of Istanbul 2010 and Tallinn 2011 European Capital of Culture. Another positive news was the decision made in summer 2008 by Turkey to free Estonian citizens of visa requirement."
At present Tallinn-Istanbul connection is offered by Lufthansa via Frankfurt and by airBaltic via Riga.
