The keyword for the year 2010 will certainly be the decision of adopting the euro and the relevant preparations, stated the Governor of the Bank of Estonia Andres Lipstokm writes aripaev.ee.

"The next year will probably be an exciting and busy one,” he noted, adding that in a wider and longer-term perspective, Estonia will have to continue securing the future of national finances. Lipstok remarked that the government had done a good job in balancing the overall budget of the public sector.

“This, however, does not mean that this work does not need to be continued,” he emphasised. “The objective for the coming years should be balancing of the budget and generating a surplus,” noted the Governor of the Bank of Estonia.

“If there is something to learn from the year that is about to end as well as from the year 2008, it is that the reserves generated during the years of rapid growth gave the State some time to carry out the necessary changes and provided security within the country as well as abroad that Estonia will meet its obligations,” said Lipstok.

“I hope that the next year will be that of positive changes and that people will find options for developing professionally as well as personally,” he noted.
