Household electricity tariffs to rise 2.8% in June 28.05.2010, 15:33
Estonian electricity prices will increase 2.8 percent for households next month, state-owned utility Eesti Energia AS, according to a Bloomberg report.
The price increase, equal to 9.85 kroons a month for the average consumer, is due to higher transmission fees from grid operator Elering, Eesti Energia said today.
Energy prices rose an annual 2.7 percent last month after the Estonian electricity market was opened in April for corporate consumers, pushing their electricity costs up by more than a third. Still, electricity prices for individuals remain among the lowest in the 27-member European Union, according to Eurostat data.
