McDonald’s to invest EUR 38 million in Baltic countries03.01.2012, 14:09
Premier Capital that owns McDonald’s restaurants in the Baltic countries plans to invest 38 million euros in the further development and to expand the restaurant chain up to 35 over five years until 2014 including, announced the company..
McDonald’s commenced with the expansion in Estonia by opening 3 new restaurants in 2010. This year 2 restaurants were opened in Latvia and one in Lithuania. Next year it is planned to continue with renovations in Estonia McDonald’s restaurants and one more McCafe is opened. In Lithuania there are nine McDonald‘s restaurants and next year two restaurants will be remodeled and one new restaurant will be opened in Vilnius. In 2012 three new McDrive restaurants and will be opened in Latvia and two restaurants will be renovated to further development of the enterprise.
“This will be the first time when McDonald’s restaurant chain in Latvia will experience such an impressive expansion – 2 new restaurants opened this year over two months. Next year we will renovate restaurants in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, giving them modern looks and infrastructure for the pleasure of the customers, and we will also continue the already started expansion opening three new restaurants in Latvia and one new restaurant in Lithuania,” said Tomasz Nawrocki, McDonald’s Managing Director in the Baltic States.
Regardless of the economic situation McDonald’s is planning to keep investing in the Baltics. “McDonald‘s is a leader in the restaurant business in the Baltic States. No other restaurant chain can be proud of such a rapid development and impressive amount of customers, which amounts to 22 million over year period. We are planning to invest in the further development 38 million Euros and expand our chain to 35 restaurants over five years – from 2010 until 2014. This will help to ensure high accessibility of McDonald‘s restaurants in the three countries and will continue to sustain the leading position in the field of catering,” commented Melo Hili, CEO of McDonalds Baltics, Malta and Greece and co-owner of Premier Restaurants. Hili added that the analysis of the eating habits and activity of guests and the stabilized purchasing power allows predicting high return on investment.

With its more than 31 000 restaurants worldwide, McDonald’s is serving each day ca 55 million people. At the moment there are 10 McDonald’s restaurants in Estonia. McDonald’s employs altogether more than 550 people in Estonia.
