Perfume importers to sue online traders for selling demo bottles
19.10.2012, 15:05Estonian importers of some of the world’s most famous perfumes are planning to sue online trading companies for selling demo bottles or testers and for using shady supply routes, writes Äripäev.
Official importers say that they are spending millions of euros in marketing budgets while web stores are offering half the price for products that should not be on sale at all.
Checking on the claims made by importers, Äripäev purchased two bottles of perfume from Viking Company that operates an e-store at aostore.eu.
The 100 ml bottle of Orange Man from Hugo Boss that costs 72 euros in official stores was available for 38 euros. 75 ml Escada Incredible Me was available for 32 euros, half the normal price. Both purchases arrived in ten days. While Hugo Boss perfume came without a box, the Escada package had written “Not for sale” and “Demonstration” on it.
