A total of six attorneys at law who were working in Glikman & Partners have left the law firm, four of them set up their own law firm Alterna, writes Äripäev.

“There is a time when you need to decide whether you like to remain in the current system, subjected to certain principles, wishes to partners and an established model, or leave,” explains Silja Elunurm, attorney at law who is one of the attorneys who recently left Glikman & Partners, one of the largest law firms in Estonia.

Elunurm left to set up Alterna with Annika Valt, Siret Siilbek and Herlmeri Indela.

Commenting the exodus, Leon Glikman said that the law firm was unlikely to lose some of its large customers because they are usually attached to the law firm and not to individual lawyers.

“We have a so-called institutional partnership which means that we cover all the legal needs of our customers, and not just specific problems that occur late Tuesday,” he said.

Glikman added that the law firm was selling trust based on long-term partnership which means that customer loyalty is higher than in many other areas.

“New players need to earn this trust with their actions over the years,” he added.

According to its 2011 results, Glikman & Partners is Estonia’s seventh-largest law firm with revenues of 2.5 million euros. The largest law firm in the market is law firm Sorainen with 7.5 million euros in revenues.
