Estonia’s largest international road carriers had a strong year in 2011, with most of them reaching record cargo volume and posting attractive profits, writes Äripäev.

The results of two market leaders DSV Transport and Schenker were especially strong.

“Estonia has emerged from the economic crisis well and road carriers are doing as well as the economy,” says Jaan Lepp, CEO of DSV Transport.

DSV Transport saw its revenue go up by a fifth last year to 56.1 million euros. The company’s profit increased 25 percent to 2.9 million euros.

Also Schenker did particularly well, increasing revenue by 50 percent year on year to 45 million euros.

“We are a service company. We are growing when exports and imports are growing,” said Meelis Arumeel, CEO of Schenker.

“We are not hoping anything. We are a service company that carries according to Estonian foreign trade receipts. This is our benchmark,” added Arumeel.
