Google Streetview keeps US Embassy at a distance
17.05.2012, 10:40Google Streetview application that shows most of Tallinn has some exceptions, such as the US Embassy building in Kentmanni street, writes Eesti Päevaleht.
The embassy building at Kentmanni 20 can be viewed only at a distance and does not allow to zoom in to look at building details.
A similar case is with the Stenbock Residence that houses the government and the state chancellery at Rahukohtu 3.
Stenbock Residence that is in Toompea can be viewed only from Nunne street in the lower part of the Old Town.
As for Rahukohtu street, it seems not to exist at all because the map application offers no view.
The presidential palace in August Weitzenbergi street is on the map, but cannot be directly zoomed.
However, if one were to zoom ground in the direction of the buildling and then raise the view, the building becomes zoomable.
In an interesting twist, the building of KAPO in Tõnismäe can be freely viewed and zoomed.
Because of the building’s mirror windows, however, there is no risk of finding something sensitive.
Also the Russian Embassy in Pikk street can be viewed and zoomed.
