MP claims EC prefers Estonia as host to LNG terminal
21.06.2012, 12:41Estonian MP and Eesti Energia supervisory board member Kalle Palling posted a message on his Twitter account this week that European Commission's working group thinks that Estonia is the best location for a regional LNG terminal, reported Postimees Online.
European Commission experts introduced the results of their analysis on Tuesday. The Italian experts visited all Baltic states to evaluate their suitability for housing the regional LNG terminal.
The European Commission is ready to support building a Baltic regional terminal but Baltic States' leaders haven’t been able to reach an agreement on in which country the terminal would be located. Thus the Commission hired experts who evaluate the competing projects of the three states.
Elering and Port of Tallinn will build a small LNG terminal in Muuga by 2015. Lithuania has also decided to build at least a small LNG terminal.
