KAPO officials say that two men suspected of trying to plant explosives under a Tallinn businessman's car in spring should be viewed not just an underworld score-settling but equally as a national security threat, reported ERR News.

The national security agency officials detained the individuals, ages 37 and 60, on Monday on suspicion of attempted murder of the businessman, Igor Savenkov, and illegal handling of an explosive device.

A court issued an arrest warrant and they were remanded to jail, spokesperson for the North District Prosecutor's Office Arno Põder said.

Deputy Director General of KAPO Eerik Heldna said responders and investigative units worked together to prevent a serious incident.

The incident occurred on May 31, when the device was found under a car parked in central Tallinn. The presumed target, Igor Savenkov, has owned Russian-language newspapers and the only producer of grain alcohol, among other business interests
