Breaking news: technical fault halts all air traffic in Tallinn
29.08.2012, 15:04Air traffic in Tallinn was shut down today afternoon because of problems in the control systems of the air traffic control, reports ERR.
Lauri Linnamäe, press spokesperson of Tallinn Airport, told ERR this afternoon that the problem was being dealt with, according to air traffic control.
He said he did not have more specific information aout the fault, but said that planes remain grounded for the time being.
"We undestand the inconvenience caused to the passengers, but since safety comes first, we must simply wait until the problem is corrected. We have been assured that the problem was being handled," he said.
Ilona Eskelinen from Estonian Air said that according to the latest information, traffic has partly been restored and some Estonian Air crews were already preparing to take off.
She added, however, that there would be delays.
Because of problems in air traffic control, the following flights are being delayed:
