Nouriel Roubini to speak at Baltic Investors Forum in Vilnius
18.09.2012, 14:42Nouriel Roubini, one of the few global economists who accurately forecast the 2008-2009 crisis, will be the keynote speaker at the Baltic Investors Forum that will be held October 25-26th in Vilnius.
The highlight speaker of the second day is Richard C. Koo, Chief Economist of Nomura Research Institute.
"We are honoured that the best-known world-class global economic analysts who shocked the whole world by their own insights, while making a huge impact on the economy will attend Baltic Investors Forum," - says Rūta Skyrienė, Executive Director of the organizer, “Investors' Forum”.
According to her, the Baltic Investors Forum is expecting more than 300 business representatives from the European Union and Scandinavia. A lot of attention will be dedicated to the telecommunication trends and infrastructural mega-projects in energy, transport and logistics – we will hear these sector analyses and the exceptional role of the Baltic region.
Rolandas Valiūnas, Chairman of the Investors' Forum and Managing Partner at LAWIN law firm, said that the forum is expected to have lively debates not only about the challenges facing the economy, but also about what should be done in order to ensure that there will never be another global economic crisis. "The euro zone debt crisis is ongoing and there is still no relief for the Baltic economy; increasingly we hear predictions of a second recession. The forum participants are expected to have specific discussions about what world governments, businesses and the financial sector should do to return to growth. I also think that we need to be brave enough not only to debate on the issues, which caused the recession, but also to agree on the necessary measures to ensure balanced sustainable economic growth " - said Mr. Rolandas Valiūnas.
Other debate topics include Single European Market, development of the Baltic region, its talent pool and attractiveness for foreign direct and portfolio investments, the trends and opportunities for service centres.
"While organizing a top-level international event we create a platform for Baltic companies that seek international development and investment, seriously think about their business strategy, who are also interested in economic forecasts and are ready to challenges", - said R. Skyrienė.
