Environmentalists oppose the planned LNG terminal in Pakri 20.02.2013, 13:34
The Estonian Fund for Nature has sent a letter to Minister of Economic Affairs Juhan Parts warning him that the planned LNG terminal on the Pakri peninsula could create a number of legal and other problems it the project is implemented, reported ERR.
The fund claims that the project’s environmental impact assessment is deficient and fails to meet the requirements of the EU nature directives.
This means that approval of the terminal’s plan was illegal.
Commenting the claims, Heiti Hääl who owns Alexela Group that is developing the LNG terminal on Pakri peninsula says that he is confident that the tasks involved in the assessment of the environmental impact have been duly fulfilled.
Hääl said the Fund has not been in contact with Alexela and that he knows nothing about the letter.
