Estonia's consumer price inflation accelerated in June, due mainly to a marked growth in housing expenditures, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Friday.

The consumer price index increased 3.8 percent on an annual basis in June, following the previous month's 3.3 percent gain.

The acceleration was driven mainly by an 11.9 percent growth in housing costs, and a 4.8 percent gain in costs of food and non-alcoholic beverages.

There was a 4.9 percent increase in clothing and footwear prices, and a 3 percent decrease in transportation costs during the month.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices moved up 0.5 percent in June, after rising 0.2 percent in May, the agency said.
