When it comes to sound and speakers, there is one brand I religiously turn to in my home for unparalelled quality.
Sonos has made a name for itself over the years since it was launched in 2002 as a brand that has re-invented home audio for the digital age.
And this latest invention shows the brand has no intention of slowing down just yet.

The Play is a portable speaker that delivers big stereo sound and all-day battery life wherever you go.
Priced at $499, it’s a (reasonably) affordable option that can be played as powerfully, whether you’re playing it from a countertop or mountaintop.

The Play promises to bring the “rich stereo sound and deep bass Sonos has become known for”.
With 24 hours of battery life, an included wireless charging base, a waterproof construction, the speaker is drop-resistant and it automatically tunes for the best sound wherever you listen.
The $499 Play sits right in the middle of the company’s portable lineup in both size and price.
The Move 2 sits above it in price, while the Roam 2 is cheaper.

Unlike many other speakers on the market, the Sonos Play integrates seamlessly with your other Sonos tech, and it has been designed to complement this tech, rather than render it obsolete.
Connect over WiFi to group across rooms or pair for stereo, with a Wireless Charging Base to anchor it in your home.
For the first time, you can also group multiple speakers directly from a Bluetooth connection.
Connect Sonos Play to your phone, then press and hold Play/Pause on up to three additional Sonos Play or Move 2 speakers to sync them together.
AutomaticTrueplayTM tuning dynamically adapts the sound to any environment.

One of the big selling points of the speaker is its compact size and therefore portable nature.
Designed for everyday carry with a removable utility loop, you can listen on the go with 24 hours of battery life in a durable, IP67-rated waterproof design and a built-in power bank to charge your phone.
“Much of consumer tech promises innovation, yet too often delivers isolation — new devices replacing old ones instead of building on what already works,” said Tom Conrad, Chief Executive Officer of Sonos.
“We believe a great sound experience shouldn’t reset every time you add something new. It should get better.
“Sonos Play and Era 100 SL are a clear expression of what Sonos does best — creating products that feel simple on the surface, but are deeply powerful because of the system behind them.”
Sonos is also launching another product this month, the Era 100 SL, which offers a simplified, more accessible way to enter the Sonos experience.
With a mic-fre design and streamlined feature set, it delivers confident, room-filling sound on its own and expands effortlessly into the Sonos system over time, whether that means another room, stereo pairing, or building out a home theatre experience.
“We believe the first speaker you bring home should sound complete on its own, and become even better as your Sonos system grows,” said Chris Kallai, VP of Product Creation at Sonos.
“Sonos Play and Era 100 SL offer two distinct ways to shape a listening experience that fits how people actually live, while making it simple to add new rooms, new moments, and new possibilities over time.”
